All the world's a stage.
Shakespearean Youth Theatre is a Minnesota-based theater program for homeschool students. We're dedicated to helping students explore their inner thespians with a friendly cast and crew. We offer a number of classes, from a week-long workshop to our six-month program, in which students get to create and perform a fully-produced Shakespeare play with professional directors and crew.
Every year, we build a cohesive cast of 15-20 teens through acting workshops and events. Over the fall, our weekly class learns about Shakespeare's works and their relevance in today's society, while reading and discussing a complete Shakespeare play. Finally, we spend January and February staging, building, and rehearsing a professional production of the play, with five public performances in a 260-seat Minneapolis theater in March.
Shakespearean Youth Theatre formed in summer 2004 as an informal group of Twin Cities homeschoolers passionate about making theater, with a special focus on the universal stories of William Shakespeare. Since then, more than 70 teens have performed in an SYT production, with some even returning as crew members. Whether cast, crew, or audience, we hope you'll join us for our next production!
